This is our story 

Hey my name is JT.

I just recently started a nonprofit organization called Get Hooked Take A kid Fishing Inc. I wanted to introduce ourselves to let you know what we do and what our mission is. For the past 4 years my son and I have been doing a fishing rods for kids Christmas drive. Were we take in donated fishing gear clean it up and fix as much as we can.

Then give it out to kids in need for Christmas.

We also take kids out on the boat, teach them how to fish, kayak and exploring nature river side etc... It has grown tremendously since our first year.

The 1st year we did a kids fishing tournament called Neuse River kids Sunfish Tournament. We took in donated fishing gear and passed out 50 rod & reel combo's to Craven County NC.

Our 2nd year we hit Facebook to get the word out. A lot of people wanted to help so we took in donated fishing gear and fixed as much as we could. We also partnered with Pamlico Partnership For Children. We passed out 53 rod & reel combo's with gear in Pamlico County NC for Christmas that year.

Our 3rd year people started contacting us wanting to help and volunteer. So we set up drop off locations all around at local tackle shops in multiple counties.

We also partnered with the North Carolina Wildlife Commission. They provide us with with some fishing gear, hat hooks, Anglers Guides, pocket Fish ID Guides and wildlife coloring books.

With all the help for our 2021 Christmas Drive we passed out rods in 7 different counties in the lower Eastern North Carolina. We were able to pass out 148 rod & reel combos, 88 tackle boxes with tackle, 60 tackle bags, 148 Fish ID Guides, 148 Anglers Guides, 148 Wildlife coloring books and 148 hat hooks. In 7 different counties. Along with taking kids out on the boat fishing, kayaking and exploring nature etc..

-Our 4th Year-

 We officially became a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Organization we currently have 28 volunteers and 3 board members This year we have grown even more we have hosted many events some include the North Carolina Wildlife National Fishing And Boating Week , Aurora Fish And Farm Festival/ Kids Fishing Tournament, The Fall Bazaar, How to build a hand crafted wood boats out of plywood, events teaching kids knot trying, how to rig up a fishing rod, differences between fishing rods/reels and how to use them etc. And more For our annual Fishing Rods For Kids Christmas Drive we passed out 153 rod&reel combo's and 153 tackle boxes with gear in 6 different counties

Our goal for this year is to pass out 200 rod&reel combo's with tackle boxes and gear

We currently cover the lower Eastern North Carolina but our goal is to reach the whole state and then who knows.
